“The Root | The Healing”

Understanding the source of an issue allows for full awareness of the reason for its presence in your life. Sometimes many issues can be buried in the deepest parts of the soul, causing for them to become roots for undesirable fruit to be cultivated in your life. There are two places where memories and emotions can live at the same exact time:

  1. The body: the chakra/energy center that chooses to absorb it.

  2. The brain: conscious or subconscious mind (or as scientists like to call it the hippocampus and the amygdala.)

Knowing this means that there can be several paths to healing. The two methods that I focus on are what I like to call ‘Cognizant Healing’ and ‘Incognizant Healing’. With cognizant healing, you are fully aware of the root issue and in knowing this information, you tackle it head on. A significant resolution being the forgiveness of self and of all parties involved. The most effective tools can vary between therapy, affirmations, and releasing through creative expression. It can also happen through making intentional changes in your life that no longer feed the blockage, and ultimately… time.

However, what happens if you are totally unaware of a specific trauma? You find yourself living this life where you are struggling to break a behavioral pattern that you can not quite source; how do you address this?

Please know, regardless if the conscious memory is not there, it does not mean the event did not happen. If this is the case, then there lies the question- how can healing be presented? How does one even know if healing is needed if there is no awareness? Even more importantly, why did the version of yourself that experienced this event/trauma choose to store the memory in the deep dark cave of the amygdala? In a space where light is totally consumed?

Regardless of the level of awareness, I organize these thoughts in this space so that people may better understand themselves and their bodies in a completely different way. In an interconnected way. Oftentimes, our bodies scream for us to slow down so that we may hear the quiet cries of those hidden roots. The more we ignore this plea, the more they cry and the deeper they grow. Out of sight, out of mind. I hope after reading this, it will inspire you to turn down the sedating noise in your life and to truly feel where pain lives inside you. I hope you make the decision for yourself to lift it out of you and allow it to be released into a healing gust of wind.

Be kind to yourself. Be well.
